About the Inspector
Ivan spent the first 18 years of his career operating an architectural practice and later, with a registered architect, formed a partnership combining their strengths in design, project management, and compliance. Ivan’s work covered a broad range of residential housing, light commercial, and institutional buildings and was actively involved in all stages of each project, from concept design, construction detailing to consent documentation and project management. This comprehensive, hands-on experience across a variety of building types provided him with a strong foundation in both the creative and technical design aspects of building design, along with a practical understanding of building systems, construction details and compliance.
The next 18 years saw a shift into building and facility management, overseeing commercial properties including high-rise buildings across New Zealand. He worked closely with both property owners, tenants and maintenance contractors, gaining deep insight into the operational side of buildings, compliance and maintenance management.
In 2018, Ivan joined Jim’s Building Inspections as a Franchisee, leveraging over the three decades of hands-on experience in architecture, construction, and property management. His background gives clients confidence in thorough, knowledgeable inspections, grounded in real-world understanding.
Ivan is also our Franchisor Manager for New Zealand using his knowledge and experience to aide our other New Zealand Franchisees provide the best service to clients.
Outside of work, Ivan is an avid fisherman and has a jet ski set up specifically for fishing. He enjoys sending time on the lakes of Rotorua and exploring the coastal waters around Auckland.
