About the Inspector
Wayne is your local building consultant for Franklin District, Auckland, New Zealand.
Wayne began an apprenticeship at 16 years of age and obtained his Trade Certificate and Advanced Trade Certificate in Carpentry. Upon completion of his apprenticeship, he became self-employed and worked on a variety of residential and commercial projects, spec building and small developments, as well as farming on the family’s home block and delving into cropping.
Prior to joining Jim’s, Wayne owned a Totalspan shed franchise which he operated for 11 years, building his business from the ground up.
Wayne joined the Certified Builders organisation and became a Licensed Building Practitioner at their inception as he believed that the concept of proving your qualifications was very practical for both clients and builders. Over his intervening 40 years in the industry, Wayne has built up a plethora of skills and a sound knowledge of materials, processes and techniques of best practice. He is conversant with the Building Code and has wide ranging experience with project management, health and safety, staff management and business acumen.
Wayne is extremely hard working and a dedicated individual who believes that customer service is the key to a positive result. He has a keen eye for detail which will ensure that inspections are carried out with complete integrity.
Wayne still farms the home block where he grew up, with his wife and 3 adult children. He was active during their primary school years with fundraising events and as a BOT member. Wayne is passionate about tennis, being the president of his local tennis club and playing interclub, business house and social games. Wayne is also a trustee for the Karaka Sports Park Trust who alongside Auckland Council are developing the expansion of local sports fields and associated buildings for the community. He also dabbles in Golden Oldies Cricket and is an avid sports spectator.
